Merit

I get very different feedback from different people regarding where my technical skills and experience fall in regards to the level of jobs I should seek out. I have folks say I should only be applying for senior-level roles. I have had folks say I am still entry-level. I suspect that is because I am actually mid-level engineer with a solid understanding of fundamentals, proficiency in a full set of modern technologies, proven ability to self-learn and mentor as a developer, and experience developing all aspects of apps and SDK's at a professional quality of code deployed to production environments, but I need more depth and range of experience with things like scaling up (optimization) and system design. This is making it confusing as I apply to jobs. Does anyone have practical insights on this?
