I’ve been working as a backend developer for over a decade before switching over to the management track, and had been in management for almost 4 years now. I started my career as IT support, then switched over to software development after realizing how much fun it was to build web sites using PHP & MySQL. Since then, I’ve worked at a traditional corporate, a startup, and now a large tech company. Each one offered unique experiences and learning opportunities.
Mentoring and coaching
Performance reviews
I’m passionate to help others to grow, especially those in the underrepresented groups. Mentoring is also a great way for me to learn from others’ experiences and perspectives. I’ve worked as a backend developer for over 10 years before I switching into the management track, and have been an engineering manager for over 3 years. My main motivation for going into management was to fill the gap that I couldn’t bridge as an IC, and it’s been an interesting journey that allowed me to grow tremendously. I’ve helped my team overcome various challenges, from project pivots to unexpected layoffs. In addition to my direct reports, I mentor many women engineers outside of my team and my company.
