💫 Breaking into tech🛰️ Working remotely for the first time

Ever since I realized the potential of technology to transform industries and empower individuals, I’ve been on a mission to create solutions that make a difference. With over 5 years of experience as a Full Stack and Drupal Developer, I specialize in crafting custom, user-centric digital solutions that drive results. From optimizing the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s website for accessibility to leading the development of AI-powered interfaces for Nularian Electrify, I’ve consistently delivered impactful projects on tight deadlines. My work with organizations like the Delaware River and Bay Authority and California Transportation Department has enhanced user engagement and streamlined workflows, reflecting my commitment to technical excellence. Skills Highlights: • Building scalable web applications with Drupal, React, or any other technology that catches my eye. • Expertise in cloud platforms like AWS and Azure to ensure high-performance and secure deployments. • Pioneering solutions in AI integration, accessibility compliance, and SEO optimization. Beyond coding, I thrive in agile environments where collaboration and innovation intersect. As a mentor and open-source contributor, I believe in the power of community and giving back, a value I carry into every project. Passions: When I’m not coding, you’ll find me mentoring budding developers, riding my KLR650 through the mountains, or diving into creative projects like designing e-commerce platforms for small businesses. Let’s Connect! If you’re looking for a developer who can turn complex challenges into elegant solutions—or just want to chat about technology, motorcycles, or sustainability—feel free to reach out.

💫 Breaking into tech🛰️ Working remotely for the first time

I got into tech after getting degree in accounting and stayed in the enterprise software development industry in last 20 years or so on various positions with emphasis on efficiency and optimization. In the last 5 years I'm transitioning to data-oriented engineering roles: data analysis, analytics engineering. While I have a background in consulting, my favorite roles are the product development where one can find so many opportunitis to make our online world a better place.

I've been recently layed off at my current employer. Startups is a fast-paced environment with high demand on working hours, so in betweeen jobs I have more availability to give back to comunity, and synthesize my past experience to make it easier reusable.

💫 Breaking into tech🛰️ Working remotely for the first time

Hi there! I'm Angela, a passionate software developer who loves to solve problems and help others along the way. With a heart full of compassion and a brain wired for tech, I aim to guide, support, and cheer on fellow devs, especially POC & womxn, as they navigate their journey in this ever-evolving world of software. I feel strongly about the topic of mental health—it’s something we don’t talk about enough in tech. Balancing a meaningful mission and a demanding career can take a toll on our well-being, and I know firsthand how tech can both support and disrupt mental health. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences as we learn and grow together, one bug fix at a time. Learning should be fun, not daunting, so expect lots of encouragement, positivity, and the occasional bad pun (oops). Whether you're wrestling with your first “Hello World” or tackling more advanced projects, I’m here to navigate this journey with you!

I mentor because I’ve been on the other side. Early in my career, I often felt alone because I didn’t quite fit in. But during that time, my mentors made a world of difference—they didn’t just guide me in my work, they stood up for me and encouraged me to aim higher than I ever thought possible. Their belief in me pushed me to grow and showed me just how powerful mentorship can be. Now, I want to pay that forward and be that same source of support and encouragement for others.

💫 Breaking into tech🛰️ Working remotely for the first time

I call myself a software gardener because I believe that software is grown rather than built. That said, programming has never been my deepest passion. I work with software because I love the process of building, improving, and maintaining, even if the result isn't as tangible as a garden. Luckily, I figured this out early when I started modding games for an online Dungeons and Dragons community. It was a heady feeling to get home from high school and dive right into work with an international and multilingual team. Since then, I've used programming as a tool to holistically work on interesting problems regardless of the domain, the stack, and whether I'm even hands-to-keyboard. I've bounced from front end, to automation, to product, to management, to backend, to all of the above. Since I've always loved the intricacies of topics like law, I've ended up spending a ton of time on international commerce. That said, I've always tried to balance it by focusing on education and community. I've spent years teaching and mentoring high schoolers through various nonprofits; my mom is a teacher and the apple didn't fall far from the tree. In addition, I'm an organizer with local groups like QNS Collaborative (arts), 31st Ave Open Street Collective (community), Band of Noobs (tabletop roleplaying) and the Astoria Food Pantry (mutual aid).

My mom is a teacher, so I guess mentoring runs in the family. I've been involved with education for years; teaching programming to high schoolers through various nonprofits. I think that education and mentorship work best with consistency. I'd love it if mentoring wasn't just a single conversation. I'm a big believer in the give and take that comes with mutual aid and would love it if you come back for more sessions!

💫 Breaking into tech🛰️ Working remotely for the first time

I am a consultant, partner, and servant helping SMBs solve business issues, build technical solutions, and bring ideas to life. My background in operations, and my blended skillset of strategic thinking and technical competence, has allowed me to forge a strong track record of solving complex business issues, implementing holistic no-code apps and automations, and leading innovative initiative projects. I have partnered with companies from various industries including legal services, financial services, philanthropy, online education, beverage distribution, property management, manufacturing, SaaS marketing, real estate marketing, and more.

After leaving my previous full-time employment to begin consulting full-time, I have wanted to give back to the community and help others who may be in the shoes I was in. I want to help them chart a path forward in the no/low-code space and to understand the options, pros, and cons of freelancing in this space, or consulting, or starting an agency.
